Three Mile Island 1 day prior to shutdown.jpg
On Friday, September 20 at 1300 (1 P.M.) Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station will shut down. On March 28, 1979, Reactor #2 suffered a partial meltdown. If you look to the center and up the power lines are those that carry power generated by the reactor to the substation across the street. The smaller lower line to the left going to the island is power going in for emergency use and in worst case they have an onsite generator. Eventually the steam from the cooling tower will stop. I used a breakthrough photography ND3 and ND6 filter to capture this image mid-day with a Canon 24-105 f4 L lens on a tripod with a manual release. If you zoom in to the upper left, the two small spots are the moon and an Airplane.
